The Town House is a rectilinear six storey 11,500 m² which was built in 40 weeks and opened to students, staff and the local community in January 2020.

DELTABEAM® was chosen as part of the solution for their cost-effective long span capabilities (some in excess of 15 m) and in-line with the overall architectural vision. DELTABEAM® also importantly enabled a flat soffit solution to aid service integration.

Peikko’s proven Column Shoes & Anchor Bolts also helped accelerate construction and enhance site safety.

The building was awarded the Stirling prize for 2021. This is the most prestigious of its kind in the UK and the RIBA Sterling Prize is presented to the architects building that has made the greatest contribution to the evolution of architecture in the past year. The Town House building has also won the Mies van der Rohe Award, the highest accolade in European architecture and only one of only three UK projects to have won this prize.

Our supply chain partners (including Peikko) all provided first class service in manufacturing the precast concrete and structural steel components to our design & specifications ensuring our clients structural and architectural requirements were achieved. The project was initially designed as a traditional insitu concrete frame and for it to be converted into a successful DfMA solution is a testament to everyone involved – thank you.
