Peikko launches post-tensioning solution for dynamic loads

Press release 13.6.2011

Peikko’s FatBar anchor bolts now ETA-approved

Peikko has developed a unique business model for turnkey deliveries of foundations for onshore wind turbine steel towers. The model includes design, components and assembly on site. One of the key components of the foundation solution is Peikko’s new FatBar system, a technically advanced post-tensioning solution for tower foundations and other technically demanding applications. It is especially suitable for structures under fatigue loads.

The FatBar system optimizes the fatigue resistance of the foundation, and thus increases its life span. The FatBar is also available corrosion protected by Peikko’s new ecological and economical ECO Galvanizing treatment.

Peikko has received the ETA (European Technical Approval) for the FatBar bolts in April 2011. Even if ETA approvals are not required in all European countries, Peikko finds it vital proof of its skills in supplying reliable and tested solutions that the customers and related authorities can trust. The notified body for the approval was VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. The application process took some 18 months and included comprehensive laboratory testing for the fatique loadings of the FatBars.

“Peikko is one of the first companies who has developed and is able to provide a true turnkey solution for onshore wind turbine tower foundations. The Peikko FatBar is a crucial key component in this offering”, states Topi Paananen, CEO of Peikko Group Corporation.
